Bringing a New Teacher Onto Your PTM System Mid-Year
Teacher turnover mid-year is routine — maternity leave, a resignation, an internal reassignment — and when it happens, the PTM system shouldn't be one more thing standing between the new teacher and running a normal meeting week.
What a new teacher actually needs on day one
Just their own login and access to the class roster they've taken over — nothing needs to be rebuilt. The student records, contact details, and existing history stay exactly where they are; only the teacher assigned to that class changes.
Carrying over history so continuity doesn't get lost
One real risk in a mid-year handover is losing the informal context the outgoing teacher had built up — which families need extra attention, what was discussed last time. If meeting notes are kept as a real record rather than living only in the previous teacher's memory, that context transfers along with the roster instead of disappearing with the person.
The roster doesn't need re-importing
A common mistaken assumption is that a new teacher needs the class re-imported for them. In practice, the student records already exist — imported once from Excel, roll numbers included — and reassigning a class to a new teacher is a much smaller administrative step than recreating it.
